Now that this is all over, we must remember that in compromise
and consensus we find the real direction forward.
This is a super simple sugar cookie recipe.
The cookies have no taste, but the peppermint icing packs all the flavor.

SImple Sugar Cookies
........................
******Put 3 cups flour, 3/4 tsp baking soda,
and 1/4 tsp salt in a bowl and set aside.
******Beat 1 cup of super softened butter (unsalted)
and 1 cup sugar in a large bowl until light in color.
******Add 1 egg and 1 tbsp milk and beat to combine.
Gradually add flour mixture and stir, stir, stir until
fully mixed (you know what cookie dough looks like).
******Divide the dough in half, wrap in wax paper, and
refrigerate for at least 1 hour (2 hours is better).
******Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F while you roll out your dough.
******Sprinkle a flat surface with powdered sugar.
Using 1 wrapped pack of dough at a time, roll out dough
to 1/4-inch thick. Cut into desired shape, place at least
1-inch apart on greased baking sheet and bake until
cookies are just turning brown around the edges.
I had to bake for 6.5 minutes (and I rotate the
cookie sheet halfway through baking time).
******Let the cookies rest on baking sheet for 2 minutes
and then complete cooling on wire rack.

Peppermint Icing
...................
******Stir 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 tsp of milk together until smooth.
******Add 1/4 tsp peppermint extract and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract. Mix well!
******Now you can either add food color to the icing, but I prefer to ice the
cookies first and then paint the iced cookie with a small paint brush.
